Left: Venus as it ends its transit across
the Sun, June 8, 2004.  Only the last
part of this was visible from Evansville,
Indiana, and clouds and haze are in some
of the frames.  The images were taken
at four-minute intervals starting at
11:00:00 Universal Time, with between
20 and 50 frames being averaged from my Canon ZR45MC digital video camera
(coupled to a Meade ETX-90 scope with a white-light solar filter) to make each frame of this animation..  The video frames were transferred to my computer via firewire to ArcSoft Showbiz, then processed in Registax 2 and Adobe Image Ready.
The Sun in the red light emitted by hydrogen atoms (H-alpha light).  Taken with a Nikon
Coolpix 995 camera through a Coronado Instruments 40-mm aperture filter.
